I love to hear testimonies of how the Word of God works to turn situations. Sometimes that emphasis is lost when people rehearse their victory. It helps me to hear how the Lord emphasized a certain verse and used that verse like an instrument or tool to change things. It’s like the Book of Isaiah says:

Isaiah 55:11 (AMPC)

11 So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

One of the greatest examples is the story of a young baby who suffered serious burns over most of its body. The pastors of the church in Birmingham, Alabama, where the family attended, told the story of how a young mother accidentally spilled a skillet of hot grease in an attempt to move the smoking skillet out of the trailer before the home filled with smoke. When she turned, the hot grease poured into the baby carrier where the infant was seated.

People came to the waiting room of the children’s hospital burn unit to comfort and pray with the family. Thankfully, there was a foundation of the Word of God and skill in prayer active in the family and their church because the doctors painted a hopeless situation. They explained to the young parents that the burns were so deep that they didn’t think the skin could grow back. They said, “There are no skin buds left to reproduce new skin, and there is nowhere on the child’s body to find enough skin for a skin graft.”

As the family and church family stood in prayer for the life of the infant, the Lord gave one woman a specific verse. It wasn’t a Scripture that is used commonly for healing, but it provided a declaration of their desired result. The Lord told them to use Job 41:23, which states, “The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.”

Their faith-filled declarations put God’s Word to work in that situation and turned it! Day by day, to the amazement of the medical staff, skin began to form and regrow. Although they initially said the child would never be able to have a normal life, God restored the little boy completely. To God be the GLORY!

The Word of God will produce the results of God when we learn to use His Word like a weapon, a tool, or an instrument. God said, “it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless]….” The Lord wants us to have the same skill and experience the same outcome that He has with His Word.

He said about His Word, “…it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” We can apply God’s Word to our situations and see the will of God come into manifestation. When things happen that are not in God’s plan, we can raise up a standard of the Word and turn things around. But we need to start today, gaining proficiency in putting the Word to work in our lives.
