Dear Partners and Friends,

It is so important to have the same definitions that the Lord uses so that it is no problem for Him to communicate with us. For example, the word peace means something different in God’s vocabulary than it does in our society. God uses the word peace to mean “nothing missing, nothing broke, the peace that comes from being made whole.” Society generally equates it to mean an absence of chaos or sense of calmness.

The same holds true where the word prosper is concerned. Most consider it to have a financial meaning such as “to increase financially.” The Lord has a much more substantial concept of the word. According to the Old Testament, the word prosper means “to advance, make progress, succeed, be profitable, to push forward, break out, come mightily, and go over.” This ability to prosper could be used to help you meet financial goals or needs, but it is clearly not limited to money. The Lord has provided the power in His Word to help us succeed and advance in every area of life. His desire is progress. He has provided us the power to succeed in life.

Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. Deuteronomy 29:9

Notice the provision of God will cover all that you do. He wants us to be profitable in every endeavor. Can you see yourself advancing in your marriage? Can you see yourself making progress in your relationships with your family? How about your physical health? The Lord wants you to advance in your strength, healing, and health.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:3

This verse describes a person who is meditating on God’s Word. The Word provides a supernatural supply like the deep water flowing in the river. The tree can extend its roots into the supply of the river and will always have water. Harvest season is never delayed to a well-watered tree! The heat will not cause it to wither and dry up. This tree prospers and thrives. The Word is our supply of supernatural water. The end result of giving our attention to the Word of God is “whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

This verse also confirms that it is the Word of God which is the key component of this power to prosper. The Lord is explaining the action of His Word. His Word will accomplish His will. God’s Word will prosper in the thing He sends it to work on. The Lord has sent His Word to advance His will in our lives. The Word contains the power to make progress and be profitable in every area where it is applied.

When you take the Word and hold it up against lack, it will come mightily against the lack and bring the power to prosper on the scene. The Word can be applied to any obstacle and it will break forth against the hindrance. You can apply the Word to any sickness that attacks your body. You can hold the Word against worry or fear and it will prosper your resistance. The Lord wants you to prosper and He has sent His Word to do His will!

In the New Testament, we have a slightly different aspect of God’s use of the word prosper. The definition of the New Testament word prosper means “to grant a prosperous and expeditious journey, to lead by a direct and easy way, to be successful, to help on the road, (literally) to succeed in reaching.”

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. III John 2

The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle John to record these words. The desire of the Spirit of God is that we each succeed in reaching the destiny the Lord has appointed for us. The supply of the Spirit will grant us a prosperous journey. His guidance will take us by a direct and easy way. The Lord will help us on the road! The Lord does not want you to come to the finish line broken, empty, and barely able to make it across. He wants you to reach your destination fully equipped! He wants you to arrive fully supplied and right on time!

The Lord wants us to prosper. But it is not automatically going to happen in our lives. It is available to every believer. Every believer has a responsibility to sink their roots down into the deep, flowing river of God’s Word and connect to the supernatural supply. When we do, we can prosper, advance, make progress, be profitable, and succeed in reaching the things we are endeavoring to accomplish.

Partner, God is on our side. He is for us! He wants us to win. I have been specifically praying for you that revelation knowledge would flow in a greater measure in your life. As you renew your mind to God’s definition of what it means for you to prosper, I want you to consider how this affects every area of your life. Let the Lord reveal to you His plan to prosper you financially, relationally, physically, etc.

Thank you for being a Faith Builder!
