On our TV broadcast, Annette Capps and I discussed the Blood of Jesus and how it must be applied to the areas of our lives where shame is trying to operate. When we accept Jesus as Lord, we put faith in what His blood has done to please our record, wiping away all sin from our lives. But I found that shame continued working on me for a few years after I was born again. It was through a personal time of studying about the Blood of Jesus that I understood I needed to “cleanse my conscience.”
The conscience indicates what I think about myself. If it has not been reset from the old Michelle to the new Michelle, it will reflect or report what I think about the person I was before Jesus made me new. The blood tells me who I am as a result of what Jesus Christ has done.
Here are some ways to build your faith in the blood of Jesus!
#1 I believe the blood of Jesus has made me right with God.
Romans 3:25 (NLT) For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.
(GW) God showed that Christ is the throne of mercy where God’s approval is given through faith in Christ’s blood.
(TLB) For God sent Christ Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to end all God’s anger against us. He used Christ’s blood and our faith as the means of saving us from his wrath.
#2 I believe the blood of Jesus has completely washed me of all sin, so completely that I am now a king and priest unto God.
Revelation 1:5-6
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
#3 I do not permit the shame of my past in my thought life because Jesus has forgiven me and paid the price to free me.
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
#4 I believe the blood of Jesus has supernatural ability to wash me so clean that I am justified in the sight of God.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
#5 I believe the blood of Jesus draws me into a close and intimate relationship with God so I have boldness to enter the presence of God.
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus…. Vs 22 let us draw near with a true heart…having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience….”
As you learn about the blood and believe what the Bible says about the blood, you will see yourself washed, pure, cleansed and holy in the sight of God.
