Dear Partners and Friends,
There are some truths from the Word of God that we must constantly hold in our attention. One of the most vital is our faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. Sadly, many believers rarely visit this truth in the Word. They assume that because they have the knowledge of what Jesus’ blood has accomplished in their memory banks, they don’t need to hear any more. But, faith is not in the head! Just because you have information in your head does not indicate the presence of faith in your heart where that subject is concerned.
Hebrews 13:20 reveals something about the working of Jesus’ blood that will help us grow in our authority over death and all that is associated with the curse. Let’s give this truth our attention.
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is covenant blood. This blood sealed the everlasting covenant that establishes our relationship with the Heavenly Father. A covenant is made up of terms or words. So you could say Jesus’ blood sealed the provisions or promises of God for us.
This verse describes Jesus’ blood as an instrument used by the Father in the resurrection from the dead of our Lord Jesus. It says God brought Jesus from the dead through the blood! This is important. We have to give a faith focus to this truth. Jesus died on the cross. When He did, it fulfilled the covenant God had made with Abraham. God had asked His covenant partner, Abraham, to offer Him his son. In return, God offered to Abraham’s seed His only Son. Jesus finalized the covenant His Father had made when He willingly died on the cross and poured out His blood as the blood to wash away our sin.
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, …Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. Hebrews 11:17; 19
Abraham believed God would raise Isaac from the dead. This was a necessary part of the covenant! The faith of Abraham had already settled in his heart that God would raise Isaac and the promise of many children would come through him. Our Heavenly Father had done the same. This is the everlasting covenant! Our Heavenly Father accounted that Jesus would be raised from the dead and in turn, you and I would be raised out of spiritual death!
This is why “It pleased the Lord to bruise Him.” (Isaiah 53:10) The pleasure of having a relationship restored with all of those “who make His soul an offering for sin” is what the Father really desired.
Ephesians 2:1 declares, “And you [He made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins.” Having a strong faith in the power of God that raised Jesus from the dead is connected to our being raised from a condition of spiritual death. When I received Jesus as Lord and Savior, I received new life. Second Corinthians 5:17 explains, “I am a new creature and all things are become new in me!” By faith, I was crucified with Christ. (Galatians 2:20) By faith, I was buried with him by baptism. (Romans 6:3) As Christ was raised from the dead, even so we should walk in the newness of life (Romans 6:4)
How can you apply this to your everyday, walking-around life? This victory power over death is yours. We are in Christ. Death has no more dominion over Him! (Romans 6:9) Death has no more dominion over you either. Death can’t invade your finances. Death can’t steal the lives of your children. Death can’t destroy your marriage. Death has no dominion. We are dominated by kingdom rule and the kingdom is righteousness, joy, and peace in the Holy Spirit. Righteousness dominates me. Joy dominates me. Peace reigns here!
This will not be the case unless you activate it. Without faith in the blood that is moved to declare and enforce the dominion over death and all things associated with the curse, your life will be attacked. Satan and the power of the curse will trespass unless you resist them by faith. Faith must be in the heart. Faith only comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. In order to have faith in the power of Jesus’ blood, you have to hear the Word about the blood. In order to have faith in your victory of death and the fear of death, you must hear the Word of God on that subject.
Partners, I am praying for your heart to be fully flooded with light about your position in Christ! You are never the victim! You have the dominion and ability to exercise control over the direction of every situation in your life. Take your place in Christ and resist death, sickness, and all destruction!
