We are rejoicing in this year of light and magnificent victory!
Recently the Lord has been speaking to me concerning the importance of love in the believer’s life. I certainly do not have the space to get into the entire thought in one letter, but we will look at what I believe is one of the most important aspects of the love of God.
“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which workers by love.” – Galatians 5:6
Kenneth Wuest, in his work, The New Testament, An Expanded Translation states, “…but faith coming to effective expression through love.”Paul is dealing with the Galatians, who are operating in disagreement over doctrinal issues. Paul cuts directly to the main issue and tells them, what you believe will only come to full expression through love.
We will often say, “Well, if I want my faith to work, I have to walk in love.” But in the perfect context, Paul is talking about their faith in Christ—their salvation. Many believers are not enjoying their salvation. They are not living in the effective expression of the new birth because they are not employing the force of love. We were not saved to merely get by and live on this earth full of troubles and trials, just waiting it out until we reach heaven someday. That is a life lived without effective expression of salvation, and that is not the life that Jesus died and paid for with His blood.
1 Timothy 6:17
“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, not trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who give the to us richly all things to enjoy.”
The word enjoyment here means “full enjoyment.”
When our faith comes to effective expression, we will then experience “Full enjoyment” from our salvation, and this full enjoyment comes from walking in and acting on love. The more we love, the deeper our relationship with God becomes.
The more we love, the richer our relationships with our family and our brothers and sisters in Christ will become.
The more we love, the less we have to deal with the attitudes of the flesh because love puts to death the works of the flesh.
There is so much more we could get into on this subject, but I want to leave you with this, make the decision today to operate in the fruit of love and live in the effective expression and full enjoyment of your salvation.
