Being “In Christ” Is Not a Feeling
(Excerpt from Redeemed and Righteous by Nature) It is very important to remember the spiritual position in which we now operate and that we refuse to allow anything to move us away from our operating position in Christ.
We are in Christ whether we feel like it or not. How we feel may change from one day to the next. However, our feelings have no effect on our position in Christ.
We must exert authority over our feelings and let them know that we are in Christ, that we are victorious, and that we are not going to allow any bad feelings to ruin our day. Tell those feelings that this is the day that the Lord has made.
Begin each day by dealing with everything from your fixed position in Christ and not with your natural ability. Amen! You will get a lot more accomplished dealing with any situation from the position of who you are in Christ as opposed to dealing with it from your natural position as a parent, spouse, employee, etc.
On any given day, you may say that you don’t feel righteous. But what does righteousness feel like? The truth is, righteousness is not based on your feelings.
God’s Word says that when you were born again, you were legally made righteous, regardless of what you felt at the time.
Trying to determine how righteousness feels is like asking a married couple what being married feels like. Again, being married is not a feeling. There are certainly emotional aspects to the relationship between a husband and wife, but neither one of them actually goes through life each day feeling married.
The truth is that a husband and wife are legally married. They are both spiritually and legally married in the sight of God. As a woman married to my husband, I walk in line with that.
You are righteous whether you feel righteous or not because righteousness is not a feeling. You can’t locate righteousness with the feelings of your emotions. You have to let the Word of God identify you.
The Word of God is my identity card. The Bible is the proof of my identity. Second Corinthians 5:17 is my spiritual birth certificate. My fixed location and spiritual identification are in Christ. I am a new creature or new creation. I have been made righteous. I have been made the righteousness of God in Christ.
I pull that spiritual revelation into my mind, and I govern my mind with that truth. I walk in the light of that truth. Glory to God! (To read more… get your copy today!)
