Dear Partners and Friends,
As your covenant partner, I pray and seek the Lord for a spiritual supply to distribute into your life. One of the most important things I can deliver into your spiritual arsenal is a working knowledge of how to stand your ground in faith. The reason why this is so important is because there are so many attacks launched against you to make you waver and doubt. Your adversary wants to make you give up. That is the only way he can defeat you.
Jesus Christ triumphed over Satan and his forces on the cross of Calvary. Our Lord and Savior made a show of Satan openly. Jesus stripped Satan of his weaponry and delegated authority to the believer to maintain the victory supplied in the resurrection. The only way Satan can work in your life is through pressuring you to quit or deceiving you into thinking God is responsible for the difficulty in your life.
This is why it is so important for us to be prepared before the attack with a working knowledge of how to stand in faith. I Corinthians 15:56-57 tells us, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” The victory is ours already! God gives us the victory continually. This verb is in the present tense. God gives! Whenever you need victory, God gives it. This is why we can be steadfast.
Because the victory is continually given, we can maintain a continual stand of faith or steadfastness. We can be unmovable in our stand for Jesus Christ. We can be unmovable where the salvation of our children is concerned, where the strength of our marriage is concerned, or in our stand for the health of our body. Be unmovable!
How do we develop this ability to stand? Hebrews 10:23 instructs us, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).” The Amplified Bible uses the words “seize, hold fast and retain.” Hold fast your declaration or confession of faith. Our steadfastness is maintained by the declaration of faith. This does not mean “a positive confession.” No! There is more to it than just saying positive words. Faith-filled words are very different than just positive confessions. There has to be a force of faith coming from the heart and flowing into the confession of faith.
Faith-filled words in the mouth act like a hand that grips the promise. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” The word “power” in this verse is defined “hand” in the original text. Your tongue works like a hand to maintain a grip or hold on the spiritual truth. If you keep it in your mouth, you keep it in your heart. If you keep it in your mouth, you keep possession of it. The key to your steadfastness is in your mouth!
Look at Hebrews 4:14. “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession (confession).” The definition of this phrase is “get possession of, to become master of, to obtain, to take hold of, to seize, to keep carefully and faithfully, and to continue to hold”. Get possession of what is coming out of your mouth. Take hold of the promise of God with your declaration. Continue to hold the answer by continually giving voice to that answer. Our part is to hold fast to saying the same thing the Lord has spoken about our lives.
Jesus is the High Priest over our profession. He is working with the words that we verbally authorize. He wants to hold fast the things He has already spoken about our lives, our finances, our marriages, and our futures. Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “for He (the Lord) hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” The Lord has said so that you may boldly say! The Lord has declared things so that we will put them in our mouth and hold fast to them.
Recently, I planted Faith Builders Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. In the very beginning, The Lord said to me, “Faith Builders Church of Little Rock is a shining light!” He didn’t just tell me that to encourage me. The Lord told me that so I would know what to say. I say, “Faith Builders Church is a shining light.” I am going to continue putting that in my mouth and holding fast to that truth!
There are things written in the Word and things the Lord will speak to your heart that you need to place in your mouth. Holding fast to your confession enables you to be steadfast in your faith. Partner, use the hand of your tongue and take possession of the provision. This is how you can be unmovable!
